With pure silk as the face and the top grade bamboo as its bone, this full color silk fan has been elaborately made through several high-difficulty processes. Exceeding the insufficiency of low-precision print on fan, this fan face is vivid and lifelike, which can even match the print effect on paper fan. In this way, it has solved the problem to present the west lake scenery on silk fan in full color print. It is a new page in west lake culture as well as a creation of silk fan.
Processed by special technique, the fan is anticorrosive, mothproof and anti-ultraviolet. It can be well preserved in any condition. Being a collection of China Silk Museum, it boasts high artistic and collective values.
Qi Baishi was perhaps the most noted contemporary Chinese painter for the whimsical, often playful style of his watercolor works. The subjects of his paintings include almost everything, commonly animals, scenery, figures, toys, vegetables and so on. He theorized that "paintings must be something between likeness and unlikeness, much like today`s vulgarians, but not like to cheat popular people". In his later years, many of his works depicted mice, shrimp, and birds. He was also good at seal carving and called himself "the fortune of three hundred stone seals".
